Kristin Gellert, Head Coach
Kristin Gellert, a Bainbridge High School water polo alumna, returned to her island roots in 2008 where she rejoined Bainbridge Water Polo Club as a coach. In high school, she was named the State Defensive MVP her Senior year, the same year her team won the state championship. After high school, Kristin went on to play for the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a division 1 team that was ranked 4th in the NCAA. She also played internationally in Dublin, Ireland, helping her club team to win a National Championship. Kristin also coaches for the USA Water Polo ODP program and Bainbridge High School Boys Swim and Dive. Through her time as BWPC Head Coach, the program has continued to grow, more athletes are competing in and out of WA, and new programs have been added to meet the growing needs of the youth in our community.
Her coaching philosophy focuses on effort, fundamentals, respect, teamwork, and a love for the sport. Outside of practices, she instills the importance of community through organized service projects and team building.
Kristin is married with two sons, who are currently participating in the Splashball program. When she is not at the pool, you can find her at San Carlos (a restaurant she co-owns with her husband), camping with her family, or exploring the PNW. She is also currently working towards her Masters in Applied Sport Psychology.
